Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) is a crucial focus of Citizens Advice Luton.

As a town, Luton is incredibly rich in its diversity with multiple ethnicities, religions, ages, cultures and backgrounds all living alongside each other. We want to embrace, celebrate and cater for the wide range of clients, staff and volunteers that interact with us and ensure we do not discriminate against anyone, regardless of who they are.

The EDI focus group meets quarterly and aims to help the Citizens Advice Luton service be as robust as possible in terms of accessibility and inclusion. When a new project or change in service is planned we review how this will impact on our service users and whether there needs to be any remedial actions taken should there be any negative impact on a particular demographic group identified.

Our staff & volunteers

It is not only as a service to clients that we want to promote EDI values but also as an employer.

We are a Disability Confident employer and are also proud to invest in home grown people by providing jobs and volunteer opportunities to young (and not-so-young!) people.

In 2024-25, the age span of staff and volunteers ranged from 20 to 85! We had at least 12 different ethnicities represented and over 8 languages spoken, as well as volunteers and employees with disabilities or disability caring responsibilities.

Our future as a business & for our clients

EDI is so essential in today’s society where, left unchecked, there is so much potential to misunderstand and reject people who are different, and increase rather than remove barriers.

At Citizens Advice Luton we will continue to raise awareness and acceptance of diversity, give opportunity to all, and work to be fair – both as a service provider and an employer.
