Helping people for over 85 years
The first Citizens Advice bureaux opened in 1939 as World War II started to provide crucial support to communities impacted by war. Advisers dealt with problems relating to homelessness, evacuation and displacement, the daunting task of trying to find missing relatives and navigating rationing.
Since then, Citizen’s Advice has offered advice to millions of people driven by twin objectives: supporting local communities and advocating for fair treatment for all.
Over the years, the Citizens Advice service has developed into a highly-trusted network of over 300 independent charities which support people across the UK with high quality advice on a whole range of issues. The service has managed to stay as relevant today as it was in the 1940s, adapting its services to meet the evolving needs of those it serves.

In Luton since 1992
Citizens Advice Luton opened its front doors in 1992 from its first offices in Bute Street, Luton. From there we moved to King Street and now share premises with some of our partner organisations at Community House, New Bedford Road. Our offices have always been strategically located in the heart of Luton town centre.
Looking to the future, we are determined to continue to secure the resources needed to keep our services free, independent, and available to all. Our mission endures: to ensure everyone in Luton can access the advice they need, when they need it, and find a way forward.
